So many of the baked good/dessert recipes I’m making now call for “vegan” chocolate chips. I was worried I’d have to hunt down some pricey, random brand of chocolate chips. Typically, most chocolate chips contain dairy.
For example, Nestle chocolate chips have the following ingredients:
Sugar, chocolate, cocoa butter, milkfat, soy lecithin, natural flavors
Many thanks to my fave dessert blogger, Chocolate-Covered Katie, for pointing out that Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chips are dairy free:
Sugar, unsweetened chocolate, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, vanilla
One caveat, however, is that Ghirardelli chocolate chips are produced on equipment that also makes products containing milk. Still, milk is not one of the ingredients in these chips! And the flavor is awesome!
