Our Parents magazine subscription finally came in handy! In the “It Worked for Me!” section, reader Janelle M. Albergottie offered this suggestion: “Instead of making a traditional PB&J, I use fruit baby food, like blueberries and applesauce, in place of grape jelly. It has much less sugar, and daughter still thinks it’s a special treat.”
I thought this substitution was such a fantastic suggestion, I tried it out that very day by subbing my daughter’s blueberry Simply Fruit spread with berry banana baby food. She didn’t like it as well as her normal sandwich–she liked it better! She definitely noticed that it was different, but she liked the change.
I look forward to trying out the wide variety of fruit purees out there on sandwiches!
